Mindfold (“we”, “our”, “us”) is an AI-powered learning app that helps you turn topics and documents into study workspaces, with features such as summaries, short courses, quizzes, flashcards, OCR, glossary tools, Nova AI chat, and text-to-speech. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: name, email address, and authentication identifiers used to create and manage your account (including Sign in with Apple / Google where available).
- App content you create or save: library items, workspaces, notes, glossary terms, progress, preferences, and study materials.
- Usage and diagnostics: app interactions, crashes, and performance data used to improve reliability.
- Purchases: subscription status and purchase history processed by Apple App Store / Google Play and our subscription partner (RevenueCat). We do not receive your full payment card number.
- Device information: device/app identifiers, language, and timezone needed for localization, reminders, and service delivery.
- Camera / photos / microphone (optional): only when you use OCR capture, import images, or voice features you choose to enable.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide and operate Mindfold features (library, workspaces, Nova, courses, quizzes, flashcards, OCR, TTS, notifications).
- Authenticate you, sync your content, and restore purchases.
- Improve product quality, security, and performance.
- Process AI requests you initiate (for example summaries, quiz generation, or chat).
- Communicate important account or subscription-related information.
3. AI Processing
When you use AI features, selected text or prompts you provide may be sent to trusted AI providers to generate the output you requested. We only send what is needed for that request.
4. Camera, OCR, and Voice
- OCR: camera/photo access is used only when you capture or import content for text recognition. Processing is performed on-device where possible.
- Text-to-speech: uses your device TTS engine to read content aloud. We do not record that audio for TTS.
- Voice input: if enabled, microphone/speech recognition is used only for the voice action you start.
5. Third-Party Services
We use service providers to operate Mindfold, including:
- Supabase (authentication and cloud data storage)
- RevenueCat (subscription entitlement sync)
- Apple App Store / Google Play (billing)
- Sentry (crash and error diagnostics)
- PostHog (product analytics)
- On-device ML / OCR providers (such as Google ML Kit)
- AI providers used to fulfill AI features you request
These providers process data only as needed to deliver their services under appropriate agreements.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data with service providers only as needed to operate Mindfold, comply with law, or protect users and the service.
7. Retention and Security
We retain account and content data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. We use industry-standard safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
8. Your Choices
- Manage camera, microphone, and notification permissions in system settings.
- View, edit, or delete saved content in the app where available.
- Request account deletion by contacting us at the email below.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.
9. Children’s Privacy
Mindfold is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
10. International Transfers
Your information may be processed in regions where we or our service providers operate. We use safeguards consistent with applicable law.
